Prescriptions have always meant paperwork and print-outs, with no easy way to check what was prescribed and when. That's changed.
Every prescription now lives in its own 'Prescriptions' tab on the patient record. It’s created directly there instead of through correspondence and saved straight to clinical history so it's easy to find again.
Setting up is quick. Practice managers build templates around medications in 'Settings' > 'Treatments and plans' > 'Prescriptions', dictating what's available to prescribe and favourites can be marked from here per user so the most-used templates appear first for all practitioners.
From there, any dentist can create a prescription from the patient record in a few clicks: navigate to the ‘Prescriptions’ tab, pick a template, adjust the detail if needed and click print, all ready for you to sign. No template for what you need? Start from blank instead.
NHS practices still need to handwrite the script itself; that's an NHS requirement, not a Dentally one, but logging the same prescription digitally means there's still a searchable record for you to see or report on in the patient's history.
This change ensures we fully support the requirements some insurers request for practices across Australia and Canada. Whilst also ensuring parity with other software's, we are introducing a trackable compliant system across your prescriptions.
It’s important to note that prescriptions created in the correspondence tab will stay there for audit purposes, but going forward, the new prescriptions tab is the way we recommend creating and tracking every prescription.
This feature is currently in Beta with roll out beginning across all sites and regions very soon.
