It’s here! Track your lab work in Dentally 🧪✅

Hansa avatar
Shared by Hansa • January 23, 2025

You asked, we answered! This exciting new feature will save you time and create a smoother patient experience 🚀

You can now track lab work from within Dentally! Easily update a patient’s lab status from the calendar or the patient record, and see at a glance whether lab work is sent, received or overdue – ensuring no patient arrives for an appointment when their lab work isn’t ready.

How do I track lab status?

  • Now, open an existing or new appointment in the calendar – you'll now see the ‘Lab work’ field at the bottom.
  • Click the dropdown and select from the options - ‘Sent’, ‘Received’ or ‘Overdue’.
  • This feature is turned on by default, but you can enable and disable it by going to 'Settings' > 'Practice' and then 'Lab Work'.

It’s as simple as that! When you update the lab status, a coloured beaker 🧪 icon will appear on the appointment – amber for ‘Sent’, green for ‘Received’ or red for ‘Overdue’.

When a lab status has been applied to an appointment, it can also be seen in the appointment card (when you hover over the appointment), and in the patient’s record.

💡 Top tip: Managing, editing and viewing lab status is available to all user permission levels!

Why track lab work in Dentally?

Many practices rely on labs to create custom dental work, and we know lead times can vary, causing frustration and even loss of revenue.

Dentally simplifies lab tracking, allowing you to easily identify lab status at a glance via the calendar or the 'Appointments' report, and act quickly – whether that’s contacting the patient to reschedule, or chasing the lab for an update.

Save time and create a smoother workflow - get started with lab tracking now! Find out more about using this handy feature with our detailed guide here.

Lab status is rolling out to all users over the next few days - so if you can't see it yet, you will do soon 🔜

Dentally Portal has a new home! 🏠🔗

Simon avatar
Shared by Simon • January 15, 2025

Your Dentally Portal links will now start with ‘yourpracticename.portal.dental’ - making it easier for patients to recognise and trust them. This shouldn’t impact your daily workflow, but action is needed from you to ensure your patients can keep accessing your links! 🔗

What does this mean for you?

👉 All your Portal links now start with ‘yourpracticename.portal.dental’

  • While they used to start with ‘yourpracticename.dentr.net’ - which could be unfamiliar or confusing for your patients - now they’ve been updated to show a clear recognisable link to your portal. You can find your new URL in your Portal admin dashboard.

👉 We've set up temporary redirects to help you

  • All existing Portal URLs will automatically redirect for now, so if a patient uses an old link, they’ll still be taken to the correct page without interruption.

👉 You’ll need to update your URLs as soon as possible

  • Once the redirects expire, the links will no longer work. You need to identify everywhere you’ve linked to your online portal – such as your website, email templates and even physical signs in your practice. Ensure you update these to the new ‘yourpracticename.portal.dental’ URL within the next few months.

How does this help you?

With the updated URL format, patients can easily identify legitimate links, trust that they’re not spam, and click with confidence, allowing you to provide a more reliable and reassuring experience.

The redirects will be in place for at least 12 months, giving you time to find and update all your Portal links - but make the updates as soon as you can to ensure patients have a smooth experience.

Your latest chart updates 🦷🚀

Kevin avatar
Shared by Kevin • October 31, 2024

We’re excited to announce some updates to the Dentally chart and introduce the new socket selection feature for users with Tooth status and our Root Charting early adoption users.

These chart updates are rolling out now, so get ready to enhance your entire charting experience 🚀

The Dentally odontogram chart has had an update!

We have made some strides in enhancing the logic behind your chart screen to enhance your user experience. Based on valuable feedback from you, our users, we've made significant changes to how missing teeth are displayed.

The odontogram view will now* only show teeth where a tooth is present, meaning icons for missing teeth no longer appear on both the base and treatment planning lines. It’s important to note that you can still chart whole tooth treatments, such as implants, bridges, or dentures, over gaps where no tooth is present.

This change aims to reduce confusion and prevent treatments from being accidentally added to the wrong teeth, ensuring a smoother and more accurate charting experience.

Read more about the updated odontogram view over on the Help Centre here.

🚨 Important: *This feature is currently (as of July 2024) in the early adoption phase and is only available to sites using the Tooth Status backfill.

Introducing Socket Selection for Root users 🦷

Socket selection is here for root users! Simplify your base charting process with the new socket selection drop down list, This is particularly useful when initially base charting a patient’s permanent dentition or updating their status on subsequent visits.

How to Use Socket Selection:

  • Navigate to the desired patient’s chart and ensure Root View is enabled.
  • Hover over a root to see it become selectable, with a shaded area indicating the socket.
  • Right-click on this area to access a drop-down list of available tooth statuses.
  • Select the required tooth status, and the tooth icon on the graphical chart will update accordingly.

This feature can be used alongside normal base charting or even while treatment planning, streamlining your workflow and improving accuracy.

Learn more about using socket selection in our handy Help Centre guide here.

🚨 Important: Socket selection is only available to users with Root View enabled.

Want to get involved and be one of our early adopters? Get in touch with Ellie Bot and the support team via Live Chat in Dentally to register your interest.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to roll out these updates!

We are excited to unveil root charting*, designed to enhance your practice’s charting efficiency and accuracy. Here’s how you can get started and make the most of this powerful tool.

*This will slowly be released across all sites with tooth status over the coming week.

Benefits of root charting

Comprehensive patient records: Keep detailed records of all treatments, ensuring no information is missed ever again!

Enhanced visibility: Avoid the risk of root treatments being invisible, ensuring complete transparency even with the roots minimised from view.

Flexible and customisable: Tailor your chart view to your needs. Using the ‘Chart settings’ you can switch between views easily for a flexible charting experience.

Improved clinical efficiency: Quickly access detailed tooth histories and current statuses by hovering over a specific tooth/root.

Using the Root Chart

How to turn on the new Root View

  • Navigate to a patient’s chart.
  • Click the ⚙️ ‘Chart Settings’ icon.
  • Scroll down and toggle on ‘Root view’. You MUST be using the condensed chart view to see this option.
  • Once you exit this menu you will see the roots are now showing on the graphical chart.

Read our detailed guide for further info on turning on the new root view.

Customising treatment items

For items to be chartable on the root they must be set up accordingly. Follow our easy-to-use step by step guide here to set up your items for roots.

Customise your chart view

You can use the ⚙️ ’Chart settings’ to adjust the visibility settings to switch between detailed and condensed views, depending on your preferences.

This accessible button makes it quick and easy to switch your view even during surgery for the optimal charting experience.

We cannot wait for you to give the new root charting in Dentally a go. For more details on utilising this feature, take a read of our dedicated articles over on the help centre.

A smarter way to save your treatments!

Kevin avatar
Shared by Kevin • October 22, 2024

We have listened to your feedback and can now share some exciting changes to transform how you create and manage clinical notes.

This update ensures that clinical notes are never missed, lost or overwritten, even when different team members are working on the patient's plan at the same time.

We’ve addressed two key scenarios to help make your charting experience as seamless and stress-free as possible:

  • Scenario 1: If multiple users are simultaneously editing different sections of a single treatment item – for example if one is editing the price, while another is editing the notes on a different device – all updates will be automatically merged upon saving, and users will be notified when the treatment is refreshed. 🚀
  • Scenario 2: If multiple users are editing the same part of a treatment item from different devices – for example, if both users are editing the item’s clinical notes simultaneously – Dentally will alert you to the potential conflict and prevent accidental overwrites, ensuring no information is lost.

Head over to our help guide here for more information on both scenarios and to familiarise yourself with your new clinical notes workflow.

This update reinforces Dentally's commitment to improving efficiency and safeguarding patient data. With these enhancements, you can work confidently knowing your clinical notes are safe and sound.
